Canto 31. Titans (Nov. 2014)
Titans, or giants, are symbols of extreme physicality as well
as warriors in Satan's mythical rebellion against God.
In the poem their imposing physical presence is
likened to the staggering earthiness of massive towers
to the point where they are initially mistaken for towers.
They are the dimwitted embodiments of all that is corporeal.
