Canto 19. Sirens (Jan. 2015)
Purgatorio canto 19 in the original poem opens with another dream,
this one of a siren capable of luring men to their destruction.
Waking, the pilgrim sees a new angel and then climbs to
the fifth level of purgatorio where those who were greedy reside.
Their penance, for as long as it lasts, is to look down and be
weighed down and kept from heaven by earthly and material things.
